Red Carpet Video
Capitol File is a high-end magazine that focuses on social events, high fashion, and all that is posh and fabulous in and around the DC area. Their large, glossy magazine is a must-read for socialites and movers and shakers, and I’ve had the honor of working with them on multiple occasions. And while I’ve shot many videos for them, as well as still photography, my favorite gig with Capitol File is filming the White House Correspondent’s Dinner after-party that they throw each year.
Big Names, Big Video
Each year, Capitol File’s welcome- and after-parties are bigger and better. There is a red carpet, entertainment and, of course, a steady flow of amazing food and drink. My job is not only to capture the stars, ambassadors, and politicians who arrive in their finery (only to loosen their ties and kick off their heels), but to give viewers an idea of exactly how fabulous the party is.
Effective Highlight Video
I relish the challenge of representing each detail of the event, of crafting a video that captures the feel of this start-studded party. The video I create each year is displayed not only on Capitol File’s website but is shown to prospective sponsors. The goal is to show sponsors exactly how popular the event is—to convince them that the after-party is worthy of their time and money.
And does it work? Most definitely! I have been shooting, editing, and producing the event video for five years, and will shoot it again next year.
